President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called on Kazakhstanis to take an active part in voting in direct elections of rural akims

"On July 25, direct elections of rural akims will be held in Kazakhstan for the first time. This event marks a new stage of political modernization. I urge the voters to take an active part in the voting. All the necessary changes in the interests of the people should be implemented," the President wrote.
In turn, as the press Secretary of the President of Kazakhstan Berik Uali recalled on his Facebook page, the initiative to hold direct elections of rural akims was put forward by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his Address to the People of Kazakhstan dated September 1, 2020.
"As the Head of State notes, the upcoming vote marks a new stage of political modernization, shows the consistency and effectiveness of the ongoing reforms.
During the election campaign, citizens demonstrated high activity, deep involvement of people in the affairs of the state and society, joint responsibility for the present and the future. As the President emphasizes, " this, in fact, is true civic patriotism."
Akims, who are the heads of local executive bodies, should play a key role in solving one of the priority tasks of the state – improving the quality of life of Kazakhstanis.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev calls on residents of villages and cities of regional significance to take an active part in the voting.
