Kassym-Jomart Tokayev laid flowers at the monument and addressed the participants of the solemn ceremony. The Head of State called the opening of the monument to the figures of the "Alash" movement in the year of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence and on the eve of the Capital's Day symbolic.
- Alikhan is a statesman who headed the government of Alashorda. Akhmet is a well-known teacher who became the spiritual teacher of the nation. Mirzhakyp is a talented writer, the author of the book "Oyan Kazak" and the first Kazakh novel, in which the idea of national unity was embodied. All of them are outstanding historical figures. This monument is a tribute to all the heroes of the Alash movement, " the President stressed.
Recalling that the word "Alash" is considered sacred among the Kazakhs, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the huge contribution of the figures of the "Alash" movement to the spiritual revival of the nation.
– The word "Alash" has always been sacred for our people. At the beginning of the last century, the leaders of the nation united around the idea of "Alash". They have done a lot for the liberation and prosperity of our country. They have awakened the spirit of people and transformed their worldview. They helped to preserve the integrity of our territory. They raised their native literature and culture to an unprecedented level. They have contributed to the intellectual uplift. The leaders of "Alash", despite the difficulties of their time, revived the idea of the statehood of the Kazakh people, " the Head of State said.
The President noted that thanks to the Independence, it was possible to return the honest names of outstanding figures of the Alash movement, who were subjected to repression, and their works were forgotten.
- Unfortunately, almost all of them were declared enemies of the people and became victims of repression. Their works were destroyed, and for many years it was forbidden to mention their names. However, our people were able to restore the names of their great sons. Over the years of Independence, the history of the Alash movement and its spiritual heritage have been radically revised. A few years ago, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Alash autonomy. This year, the 155th anniversary of Alikhan Bokeikhan is celebrated as part of the anniversary of Independence. We are reviving the names of "Alash" figures and will give a worthy assessment of their historical role. By my decree, the state commission for the full rehabilitation of victims of political repression was created, " Kassym – Jomart Tokayev said.
In his speech, the Head of State drew attention to the need for a comprehensive study of the works of the leaders of the national liberation movement.
- Research within the framework of Alash studies should cover the creative heritage of the "Alash" figures as widely as possible. Every year we become more and more aware of the significance of what they have done. Their actions will never lose their significance, because the interests of their people, the well – being of the country are eternal values, " the President said.
In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the dream of the leaders of the Alash movement about an independent state and the establishment of equal relations with the world has come true, and today our country has become a full member of the international community.
